Driving Strategic Innovation in European Cyber Defence

EUCINF WP8 Workshop in Athens Accelerates Development of the EUCINF Toolbox

The EUCINF project continues advancing Europe’s cyber defence capabilities with a dedicated WP8 Workshop held on 25 November at the Space Hellas offices in Athens.
The meeting brought together key partners to evaluate progress and outline the next steps in building the EUCINF Toolbox, a cornerstone solution aimed at strengthening the EU’s cybersecurity and defence ecosystem.

Designed to support the European Defence Fund (EDF) priorities, this workshop played a strategic role in aligning technical development with Europe’s needs for interoperable, secure, and AI-enabled cyber defence solutions.

Advancing the EUCINF Toolbox: Core Focus Areas

The workshop centred on several priority areas essential for ensuring that the EUCINF Toolbox becomes a fully integrated and future-proof resource for European cyber defence stakeholders.

  1. 1. Integration of the EUCINF Toolbox into CyberRange Environments:
Partners discussed advanced architectural and design considerations to ensure seamless integration of the Toolbox within CyberRange training and simulation platforms. This integration will support realistic cyber-attack simulations, operational readiness exercises, and cross-border training environments.

  2. 2. Prototyping the EUCINF Store for Interoperability and Advanced Testing:
The EUCINF Store—a key marketplace-like component—continues to evolve.
Its design will allow users to test, exchange, and integrate cybersecurity tools in a fully interoperable environment, supporting faster technology validation and improved collaboration across EU defence organisations.

  3. 3. Demonstration of Key Components:
Participants evaluated concrete progress on the Toolkit’s core modules:
  • - EUCINF Store
  • - EUCINF Testbed
  • - Common Functions Module

These demonstrations confirmed technical viability and ensured alignment across all development teams for upcoming implementation phases.

  1. 4. Roadmap for Upcoming Innovation Phases:
A detailed roadmap was established for the next project phase, focusing on scaling the capabilities of the Toolbox, enhancing interoperability, and integrating trustworthy AI components to reinforce cyber resilience across EU infrastructures.

Strengthening Europe’s Cyber Defence Readiness

By combining robust system design, harmonised integration, and strong interoperability principles, the EUCINF project is laying the groundwork for AI-driven, resilient, and secure cyber defence solutions. These advancements are crucial for reinforcing European digital sovereignty and addressing emerging cyber threats across critical sectors.

The Athens workshop represents an important milestone on the path to delivering a secure, interoperable, and innovative cyber defence ecosystem for Europe.
